School Psychology is a career I am drawn to as a result of my experience in high school, and the innate empathy I feel for adolescents who are struggling with school. When one’s entire life’s trajectory is contingent on the decisions they make during an incredibly vulnerable, confusing, and trying stage of life, I believe it’s important that they receive support, advocacy, and guidance from someone who can identify with, and validate their experiences. I was granted an opportunity to “escape” in a way that actually set me ahead of my peers. Most students though, won’t have that opportunity and will opt for other means of escape. I want to be in a career where I help prevent that, and I believe that my unique experience means I am better equipped
