Having a diverse background in education and behavior analysis I have developed a functional and adept repertoire working with children and adolescents of all ages across a variety of contexts and settings. I have ample experience teaching in public and private school settings, working with a variety of populations, and center-based Autism treatment. Throughout my experience, I have come to realize that many facets of education stand to benefit tremendously from supplemental classroom supports that work to ameliorate the students, teachers, and all other supporting staff members. With his reputable expertise in applied behavior analysis, academic intervention, and development of validating procedures, the mentorship of Dr. Chris Skinner would be invaluable on many levels shaping my future as a student, as a professional, and as a future university educator. Contributions by Dr. Merilee McCurdy in academic writing interventions and student motivation studies stand to enhance my understanding of these concepts and generalize them across subjects and applicable populations. Cooperative learning strategies, and instructor feedback are integral pieces of the type of intervention and support I aim to study. Having a specific interest and expertise in this area, collaboration and mentorship with Dr. Robert Williams stands to strengthen and develop my current knowledge of these areas to create a foundation on which I can develop strong and stable learning methods. Academic assessment is also a foundational aspect of school psychology. Dr. Steve McCallum’s interest in non-verbal intelligence assessment is particularly fascinating.
