It make me real mad to think that our kids at schools are eating these types of lunches. Huffington post said this year back in Feb of 2015 that 1/3 of our kids in America are obese and overweight. However school lunches from around the world have us beat by a long shot. Here is the thing though…..these lunches that are served overseas are mostly all organic and FREE!! To the kids. The central idea of “When there’s no school lunch in St. Louis, food vans help fill the gap” by Allison Colburn, is that food trucks help kids who would normally eats breakfast and lunch at school who don’t have anything to eat over the summer. Now thanks to the food trucks kids can eat lunch and breakfast even when school is out now as stated in the article “What we saw last year is some of our children would count on us to be there every day.” So this proves that the trucks are helping a lot of kids so the trucks have become a dependable source of food. The trucks make it so all the kids get food because as it says in the article “WE made the vans more easy to spot because they are brightly colored and have the words ‘food and fun’ on the…

Paige Alsup Here are somethings that I would change about the school lunches. I would start with homemade meals, then have like a pizza bar or salad bar, and the most important thing I would do would get a soda and gatorade machine. Here is the first thing I would do to fix the school lunches, I would make homemade meals. I would like homemade meals because as we all know most of the food we eat at school is heated up from packages. And we all know homemade meals are better than packaged food.…

“School food is something that most kids, 31 million a day, actually- have twice a day, more than often, breakfast and lunch, 180 days of the year” (Oliver). Although so many children eat this food every day, the state of the school lunches in America are horrendous. America already has the highest obesity rate in the world and teaching future generations that eating desserts, french fries, and pizza every day is unhealthy and not to mention unintelligent. These foods are filled with preservatives, fats, and sugars. School lunches need to be improved because they encourage improper and unhealthy diets.…

15 percent of United States children and teenagers are overweight which triples the rate of 35 years ago! (Harkin 1.)The United States is behind in healthy eating which is leading to poor test scores and more stress. School lunches contributed less than ⅓ of daily nutrient, intake of diet components which cause cardiovascular diseases. Even though kids can bring their lunch to school, lunch should be healthy and cheaper because kids are forced to buy junk food due to the high prices and healthier food in the lunchroom would result in better students in the classroom and less visits to the nurse. Healthy food in schools is something that has been argued about for a long time.…

When we're released from study hall, countless students get scolded for running to lunch. Why is the rush for food so important to us? Even students who pack their lunch have been affected by our long lines. Seemingly endless lunch lines will continue to inch away at our valuable eating time unless we raise money to build another line. Without another lunch line, students will not have enough time to eat.…

School lunches should be provided by the government Nowadays in Australia lunch is provided by parents or children will purchase lunch at the canteen, but as a parent I strongly advocate the belief that school lunches should be provided by the government. Ever since I 've came to Australia and sent 3 children through school I 've noticed some major concerns that I have with the lunch provided or food sold within the canteen. Working in a canteen I have experienced the variety of food distributed ranging from fast food such as pizza and unhealthy burgers to ice cream and lollies. However, as a mother I fear to what these children are putting into their mouths. This facilitation of this acidic diet is not ideal for proper body function and there…

A year ago the federal government created new laws that limit the amount of junk foods, sugary foods, and calories that can be consumed in school lunches. This plan was executed by Michelle Obama as the, “Michelle O’s ‘healthy’ lunch program.” I believe this was an ignorant decision because even though we have less sugar intake we still are being served wrong amount of food, it’s all being processed and it taste worse than dog food. One of the major reasons why Michelle plan was a fail is because the amount of food that is provided. For example if Sam is a 260lbs, 6 foot 3 in football player with P.E class in the morning.…
