You would think that students would leave lunch with full stomachs and empty trays, but that is not the case anymore. The government has now imposed restrictions on school lunches that has made the food served unappetizing to many students. These restrictions require limited calories, fats, sugars and sodium while emphasizing fruits, vegetables, whole grains, dairy and proteins. This causes there to be very limited tasty options for school cafeterias to serve. Because of this it has resulted in negative responses from students and school districts. The government should not impose restrictions on school lunches because it has resulted in less students eating lunch at school, food being wasted, and the lunches not filling students up.…

In order to meet the guidelines, portion sizes had to be cut which leaves many students hungry. Secondly, a so-called healthy food, such as low-fat cheese pizza on whole grain crust, tastes more like cardboard than pizza. Therefore, many students stop eating the school lunch. Last, the cost of a school lunch has risen. Those students who have to pay full price have decided to stop paying for a meal they do not like and start bringing lunch from home, going without anything to eat, or eating at a local fast food place if open campus is allowed. While some students do not have any other option but to eat the school lunch, it is clear that many others are choosing other…

There are hundreds of students at Sierra Vista High School that eat school lunch every day. For some students, the school lunch is the only thing they eat until they get home, and it is sad that most times the students are utterly disappointed at the food they are being served. The students wait in line to get their lunch, and are severed burnt or raw hamburgers, fries that don’t look that they are made of potatoes and many other disgusting food choices. The lunches that are served at the school cause many to turn to other alternatives when eating at school. Everyone should be worried about this problem because these high school students are the future of the country and they must be healthy for them so stay alive long enough to make a difference…

If you asked the workers that do eat these hot lunches, what would they say? Well that 's a mystery that Mrs. Q and anonymes teacher from "eatingrules.com" tells us about her adventure with her schools hot lunches. She comments that "they were in fact discussing, and she personally had to protest to gain even the slightest bit of deliciousness in her cafeteria." But the staff aren 't the only people at this school, no, but the students the ones that have to suffer through the bad choices of the workers are the ones who suffer. The students who don 't have a choice of bringing cold lunch to school to relieve them from the mess in the cafeteria. These students will stand in the lunch lines to get this revolting lunch that was introduced to wheat half bread and 0% milk and 95% water or some other weird thought to be healthy concoction said to be food. Though they get it doesn 't mean they eat it guys. I personally have gotten lunches that seemed to be a common everyday lunch and it was burnt and disgusting as the noodles were changed to accommodate the new restrictions on healthy in schools I throw it away as fast as I could. That 's not all some kids will do. Some go to the snack line, and wait just to get something that tastes like food not paper. Heck some kids don 't even eat lunches and let me tell you that is more unhealthy than just regular lunches and doesn 't benefit them at all when it comes to trying to stay awake and be an active member in class. No these students suffer because the adults and supposed "role models" can 't use there…

A morning edition of national public radio, titled, “Lunch Ladies Want Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act to Lighten Up” featured Jean Ronnie, president of the School Nutrition Association. I chose this because Ronnie works directly with schools, lunch ladies and makes a lot of the recipes for school lunch herself. Ronnie described one of the students favorite meals, “Fresh roasted chicken, cornbread that 's homemade, apple kohlrabi slaw and strawberries” that can no longer be served because of the sodium content. This rule among many other restricts snack and meal options for schools and students. I personally love having healthier options to choose from in the vending machines. While my brother feels like healthy eating is being shoved down his throat and sometimes resorts to bringing food from home to school. As of last year, one million students stopped buying school lunch and this number of students seems to be increasing. As food costs and labor costs rise, the schools are losing money on the cafeteria programs, and consequently have to dip into the general fund, the fund that supports classrooms. As the standards for school lunches increase, so do the costs and consequently the classroom budget. By dipping into funds for classrooms, schools are forced to put more emphasis on nutrition than in academic resources. The emphasis can be viewed both positively, and negatively. After all, proper nutrition is a basic human need and the better fulfilled it is, the stronger the foundation for other endeavors is. On the other hand, the reduction of resources from the classroom can affect the learning process itself. The only thing that is clear is that menu options are being reduced and schools have to adjust…
