Have you ever wandered into your school cafeteria, starving and looking forward to a good meal, just to find a mound of glop on your tray? Our school is supposed to be giving us the healthy food but really it’s just causing students to skip lunch and starve until they get home. School doesn’t provide the healthiest food because they give small portions, we don’t know what we are eating and it’s not actually healthy.
Lunch is an important meal of the day and it is eaten at school. High school students get the same amount of food that kindergarten gets. High school students need more than four small pieces of chicken to satisfy the hunger. Therefore they continue the day wanting more food to eat. Eating a healthy lunch will keep the students mind sharp and ready to learn for the rest of the day. Nutritious foods should be added to our lunch menu to help our students succeed.

Lunch boosts our metabolism and gives us energy for the rest of the day, but it is probably the biggest problem at our school. We are advised to eat healthy but we can't with the choices that are provided at our school. Is sweaty pizza in a bag actually healthy for us to eat? School do not provide any nutritional information on what we are eating. With no nutritional facts posted no one really knows what they are eating. Too many children throughout the united states that attend public schools are overweight. Our school lunches are full of saturated fats and refined sugars, which causes all of these problems. Some kids from low income families’ only meal is lunch at school. If it’s the only thing a child eats all day, it should be healthy. They want us to come to school and eat ‘whole wheat’ chicken nuggets that are under cooked. Schools claim that they put effort to give students the option of a healthy choice for school lunch.
