Imagine you re having the worst morning of you 're life. Everything that could go wrong has, and to top it off, you have five minute until you are tardy for school. After a while of slow driving in the rain and hurried persistence on your part, your parent(s) finally pull(s) up to the school; you are late. You receive a tardy and now have detention even though being late wasn 't your fault. This is an unfair punishment for someone that is not responsible for when they arrive. Unfortunately, students are often punished unfairly for being late. Although being on time to school is beneficial to a student 's education, the student is usually not solely to blame and shouldn 't be punished if factors out of their control helped in delaying them. Schools use various forms of punishment in attempt to influence a student 's punctuality in the future. (An article by Anna Walker stated, "Sitting in a quiet room for forty minutes is not going to change my ability to arrive on time to class.", showing that the choice of …show more content…
This requirement may help promote habitual promptness, but it also shows how ruling systems can be faulty and unfair, and students could begin to think all authority isn 't fair; they might be less likely to abide by the rules if there is always a chance of injustice even if they do the right thing.
(Jordan Miller wrote in his article, "Being required to get to school on time prepares students for the future," demonstrating how promptness may be a requirement for a student in their future). Students will grow up and be expected to arrive on time to numerous events. However, the requirement to be early will come with a more justified punishment in the future than detention or other typical school punishments. It is important for schools to properly preps students for the future, but punishing them for things they cannot help does not teach them to do any
