School Is A Waste Of Time

Decent Essays
The typical human in this century spends sixteen to eighteen years in school. That is if one wants a decent career. To most people this is a waste of time that could have been used getting their life started. The United States school system seems to drag out school way longer than is needed. Finding out why this school system is like this seems impossible, but there is a desperate need for change. Not only is the long schooling system a waste of time but it is also a waste of money. Half of a person’s life is spent going to school just to get a good enough degree to get a job. If the school system was thought through more the plan should have had children starting harder material earlier in life when they learn the best. Also, starting to …show more content…
Between the electives a person must take to graduate to the science classes that students learn the same thing in every year, not sure what is considered more pointless. Not only are the some of the classes pointless but students are forced to go the same speed the other students in their class go. Most of the time the school system made it to so that no child got left behind caused students that move fast to sit in that class for no reason. The main problem here was not that the other students were not smart enough it was that they do not care, which was unfair to the others around them. Year after year people are required to learn material that has nothing to do with what they want to do with their career. The time wasted taking those classes could be spent learning more about the important knowledge needed for a person’s career choise. Also, while taking all these pointless classes where are the much needed classes on real world adulthood. Almost no young adult has a clue what they are in for when they get off on their own. On the other hand people think the exact opposite of the current schooling system being a huge waste of time and

In studies shown as of today, high school education is presently becoming useless as the years go by, too many students get by. In high schools now students take their education and teachers as jokes; that is to blame on the teachers and higher up staff in the schools because if they were harder on students and not as lenient as they are students would take their high school education serious and not try to get by. High school education needs to be more complex to prepare young adults for the real world and college, if it is considered. In this essay, I will prove that high school education is becoming useless by not preparing students for standardized end of course exams, SAT and ACT tests to get into college, and not preparing students for…

It’s time that we come up with a better plan, a better understanding of things, and an easier way to help out our children. Having them stress so much about one big test and having it to determine if they have a chance to get their diploma or not, it’s not fair at all. It’s time for a change and in fact FCAT is a part of that. The main effect of FCAT is the dropout rate starting to rise which makes it impossible for most kids to graduate, get good grades, attend college, and also cause embarrassment. Graduation play’s a huge role in most children’s lives, but sometimes it’s hard to reach that goal when it’s hard for the kid’s to focus.…

To no longer be under the complete protection from the real world by teachers and parents is something that is alarming to me. The first day of high school impacted me in many ways. It taught me that actually learning was far more important than just memorizing something in order to gain the teacher 's approval and that the real world was going to begin in a very short amount of time. The first day of high school also made me realize how inefficient junior high school was for me. As I look back on junior high school, I feel like years of my education were wasted on unimportant material that have no value.…

They will become overwhelmed with homework and their studies, if they do not do these things one would fail and be kicked out of college. On top of that students have to work to pay for, schooling, possibly rent, food, and the list can go on and on. This means a simple report card really doesn 't mean anything when it comes to high-school but society is so taken by high-school grades and how important they are, when the real important thing is actually learning something worthwhile. Another way to improve college readiness is to stress to high-schoolers about how important knowing the classes you need to take is. When they become freshmen the kids will more than likely put it off and not care, but it is essential to keep reminding them.…

Technology has been tied with students wanting to leave school early to either make Youtube tutorials, video game cheat videos and so on and so forth. With very little literacy skills needed to work in that industry, people don’t think about what happens when you fail. Because they have poor literacy skills, it is very hard to succeed in a real job because literacy is knowledge, knowledge is power and power is…

A study by Concordia University states that teachers spend more time teach test subjects and do not put emphasis on other non-test subject such as science, art, and social studies ("Should We Get Rid of Standardized Tests in School?"). Also, students must hit certain marks to be “proficient”, so a student might make a decent amount of improvement over a year and still not be considered proficient (Armstrong). This is not a good way to test growth because every student is taking the exact same test even though some students are much more proficient than others. For example, the students that score near perfect scores every year might not be getting tested hard enough, and there is no way to tell if they are experiencing growth in their skills or not. Therefore, students should receive different test based on their skill level so schools can see more accurately how much students are growing year to year.…

When parents don’t have enough money, they will not be able to provide better education for their children because education in U.S. is too expensive and those children will not get a good education. So if parents don’t have money to afford good education for their children, they will not build these bases and that might kill their…

It’s hard to believe that over a million students are dropping out. That means there are less opportunities for their work ethic. Students need to stay in school to have a better lifestyle in the future. Although students think school is difficult and challenging, students should remain in school until high school graduation. Students who dropout seem to have more trouble in the world today than those who stay in school.…
