What I Want To Do With The Rest Of My Life

Improved Essays
At a certain point in life everyone makes a crucial life changing decision: what do I want to do with the rest of my life? When it comes time to answer this question, one must decide how hard he or she is going to try in his or her life. Many people decide this very early in their life. Students in high school usually have this question answered. The students who have never been in an honors class, who do not even have time to fill out worksheets with the answers given by teachers, who sleep through school and do not worry about that defining grade on their report cards, these students have already decided that it isn 't worth their time to try. These students are setting themselves up for very few options. When and if they happen to graduate high school, they will not have the option of …show more content…
They also have determined if they are going to participate in school or not. Let them decide what field to be apart of. If a student loves math, then they should be sent on a math pathway. They should be taking calculous and accounting and economics, not military history and biology II. If a student enjoys English class then they should be taking a cluster of English classes. They do not care about trigonometry. Students do not need to waste their time on classes that mean nothing to them. If the student does not want and education, why should he or she be forced to attend high school? Middle school teaches your basics. If that is enough for a student then they should not be obligated to continue. It wastes money and time on both the teachers and the students. If students

are okay with working in retail or restaurants or factories or trash facilities or the military or driving for companies, then let them do that. If students wish to be doctors or chefs or teachers, then let them continue to get their education. However if a student wishes to become a financial advisor, they have no need for geometry or art

Jon Marcus wrote an article called “The Reasons College Costs More Than You Think,” to prove to people that most students won’t get their Bachelor’s degree in their first four years in college. College costs more than we think because we don’t realize that there are so many expenses that students need to pay for in just one year. Everyone thinks they will get it was done by the four years but many don’t take enough classes for them to succeed that goal. The author says “The average added cost of just one extra year at a four-year public university is $63,718 in tuition, fees, books, and living expenses, plus lost wages each of those many students could have been earning had they finished on time, according to the advocacy group Complete College America.” That’s just one year of college!…

Students always have that one subject, the one subject they hate, it 's on their mind as soon as they walk into the doors of school, and on their minds when they leave, infact its probably on their mind the whole time at school. The anxiety and stress it causes would affect the students marks in other classes as well, which may result in the student not getting good marks on their report card, not getting into that prestigious university, and ultimately, not getting the career of which they dreamed of. Allowing students to take the classes they want, would not only grant them the ability to drop this one class, but be able to replace it with something they enjoy instead, and if you like the subject, it will motivate you to try harder at it, resulting in better marks, a better attitude, a better school environment and a shot at your dream job. It is common knowledge to say that, when someone chooses to something they are motivated, they take those extra steps to work harder because they have a passion for it, when someone is forced to do something they are reluctant, they’re hesitant, they don’t want to do it. The only reason they are doing it is because of the fact that punishments are laid down behind the task they are being told to do, but if the student actually enjoys doing…

In the essay, “Is College for Everyone”, Pharinet challenges the idea that perhaps college is only for a selected few. Whether you go to college because you genuinely want to, or because you want to appease your parents, college might not benefit you the way you think it does. Though Pharinet uses logical reasoning to support her claim such as the use of logos, ethos, pathos, and rhetorical questions, her argument is weaken because of her lack of credibility, failure to support her ideas, and bias opinions.…

The United States of America has been around for over 230 years, so why haven’t we perfected the nation yet? In high school, one is taught that once you step out into the Real World, everything changes relatively quick, which so far I have found to be true. All of the once popular people now come crawling back to the ones they used to prey upon because they were smart. The value of a dollar to a person in university is extremely higher than that of a high-schooler, and the fact that most professors in university don 't specifically teach in class. Thus, the all around responsibility put on a person in post secondary education is ridiculously high in comparison to that in high school.…
