By defining them, teachers can better pinpoint the problems during their two minute conversations. The well-behaved child responds positively for a purpose. Likewise, the child who acts up is doing it for a reason as well. One of the most important things that a teacher should identify during this process is why the behavior is occurring in order to put an end to it. According to Dr. Rudolph Dreikurs, the author of Children the Challenge, there are four main reasons why children misbehave (as long as they are not sick or tired physically). These include: a desire for attention, power, revenge, or because they feel inadequate and have low self confidence. Many adults might wonder why a child selects misbehavior over good behavior, but according to Dr. Dreikurs, this is the wrong question to ask. In many countries, education funds come from local sources. However, all states have a duty to contribute towards costs that school districts incur in offering education to learners. In this case, both states and districts are deemed to have a formula that guide them in funding these costs. In addition, the formulas also help in distributing funds among the districts depending on factors such as enrollment of student levels, characteristics of students and local wealth. A funding formula helps in making sure that districts have enough funds thus increasing equity.…

For this extended assignment I have chosen to look at how behaviour may affect children's or young people's development. Negative behaviour can be seen when the children's and young people's needs are not being met such as lack of sleep and when they are hungry. Difficult behaviour can be caused by a trauma or a crisis that has happened in the child's life. Children may show this kind of behaviour because they want to be the centre of attention or if they are not getting their own way and they may behave inappropriately in order to get their own way. Other examples that could affect children's behaviour include if a member of the family in the child's life such as mother or father has left and they may think that it's their fault .Also…

This evidence based approach will improve aptitudes and attitudes essential to higher achievement focusing on the whole child, creating safe and socially and emmotioonally supportive climates, and engaging parents and the community (Alessandro, et al., 2013). This model promotes voluntary behavior intended to benefit another. According to a study done by Kincaid, D., Childs, K., Blasé, K. A., & Wallace, F. (2007), such an approach gives students specific behavior skills, provides opportunity to practice skills in a natural school environment, and reinforces students positively for displaying these skills in the classroom setting. 4.1.a. Non-progressive interventions/consequences In the article, Tips for Function Based Discipline in the Classroom, Gavoni (2016) characterizes non-progressive consequences by, “being the ‘same’ every time and are appropriate and function based that are related to the magnitude of the misbehavior” (para. 11). If a consequence is going to be affective in the classroom, it needs to be consistent; for this I believe the consequences need to be simple and are reflective of the behavior. Our classroom rules (listed in CMP 2.2.a.) are as follows; Respect your classmates in your words and your actions, listen when someone else is talking, come to class prepared with all required materials, and follow the teacher’s directions.…

Students who continually display disruptive behaviors on a daily basis should be considered for a functional behavior assessment (FBA) (Colarusso et al., 2013). An FBA is completed by a team composed of educators that have worked with and are familiar with the child. The FBA is enforced to collect data for a behavior intervention plan (BIP) (Colarusso et al., 2013).…

Spending two and half hours in each classroom, I learned a great deal about early childhood education from ages birth through eight, and the effort and skills that it takes to create a stimulating learning environment. For my infant, toddler, and preschool observations, I spent my hours at the CCC Childcare Center located in our college while for my kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade observations, I spent my time at Casey Park Elementary School. During my observations at the CCC Childcare Center, I learned plenty about the methods and practices that go into early education before primary grades. The preschool classroom really stood out to me because the centers in the classroom were very open ended and filled with lots of manipulative for…
