School Hours Persuasive Essay

I am writing you to hopefully persuade you to shorten the school hours in the state of Texas. I strongly believe that hours shortened at school will decrease all kinds of violence at school. That includes fights, bringing drugs, food fights, and especially skipping which is a big problem at most schools.Students feel as that being at school for 8 hours is too long so they skip class to get a break. This leads to violence in the halls and disrupting of classes going on if the students that are skipping are too loud. If we shorten the days to approximate 6 hours i believe that all these problems will decrease and students will actually attend class knowing the day is not so long.
I understand that students need a full 8 hours of education for them to learn every subject required but that also can be a bit overwhelming for them and half of the time students get brainwashed for all the information and forget.Days shortened will actually have more students do homework and study.Do you think students actually want to be in a school for 8 hours straight? Do you think they care about the consequences of fighting and being disruptive as long as they're not in class?Wouldn't you want to be in the halls running around with friends to make your day more fun and better?Parents usually get very upset when they continuously have to come up to the

You might say that violence outside of school will increase but if we provide students with free activities after school they will attend because of course it's free and an opportunity to have fun rather being in school. If school days are not shortened then schools will still continue to have skippers and low grade counts, which i know the schools don't want because they want every child to be successful. On the other hand if they are shortened i guarantee you will see the results and more graduates and more students going to college and being

Condensed School Weeks Currently, there are discussions in many school boards about making a switch from a five day week to a four days. There are several pros and cons relating to the subject that have been looked over by researchers focusing on the switch. Overall, the switch to a four day school week is more beneficial for students, teachers, and school faculty members. It allows for more time in the week to learn in one subject class per day, makes school less of a stress for students, and will increase student attendance and decrease the amount of high school dropouts.…

Maybe, school should start later so kids can get enough sleep and not having to wake up so early to go school when they’re still tired. Well, we’re about to find out.…

Do you really want longer school years? Making school years longer for children would make it harder because they wouldn’t do any work or not even care. One reason I think that their should not be longer school years is to have children do things outside of school. Also the shorter the school year will be the more they have to learn and study. Therefore, I believe that the more time kids spend in school the less time they'll have outside of school.…

Many students do not want to participate or can not because they are so sleep deprived. School start times being later in the day would cause students to stop being so tired and students would be more willing to participate in class discussions. The Mill Valley High School Board members should reject the proposed idea of a later school day because it is beneficial to students with after school activities such as sports and jobs. The idea that a later school day is beneficial towards students is preposterous because students with after school activities and jobs would need to be out of school at an earlier hour. Take John Sherwood’s testimony for example. He complains, “But it’s going to make football practice a nightmare. We won’t be able to be dressed and on the field until 4:45, and in October, it starts getting dark by 5:30...…

I think the six hour work day shift is a good idea only for people whom may have a health issue or have a second job already. People should have to work atleast eight hours a day. " So no I do not believe that the United States should become standard for only a six hour shift. " All though Frace and Sweden have already started the six hour work day they stay out of office meetings and are working productivity I still strongly believe the United States should not push this to be the normal because without group meetings at work how do you know if your doing your job right? You don't so the six hour shift will not benefit us in any way!…

Students will be given more time time to play video games instead of doing homework. Teachers do not know what they do at home but some kids have the time to do homework but waste time watching tv or playing video games. Concession #2 People also say that longer school days could help raise the results of those who are struggling in their school work.…

Finding new ways to persuade students to be present to class is vital for the administration. Eliminating one day per week could be enough to motivate the students to attend class more frequently. As a consequence to this solution, the attendance policy would be more strict, fewer days would be allowed to miss, and classes would be longer. Every class Monday-Thursday would be an hour and thirty minutes long, instead of having fifty minute classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and an hour and a half classes on Tuesday and Thursday. Nevertheless, with a four-day school week, students would be able to fit more activities in on their three day break for friends and family, relaxation, and job responsibilities.…

Schools barely have enough time to teach kids what they need to know for standardized tests. Rahm Emmanuel, the mayor of Chicago and a supporter of longer school days, said in an interview that because schools don’t have time, “students [essentially] have to pick between social studies versus science; math versus music; reading versus recess." (Schaper, 2012) At least one extra month of school would leave the door open to a lot of learning possibilities. Kids leave grade school and are not prepared for what is ahead of them.…
