It was early, Monday morning, 7:00 o’clock sharp. I hit snooze but didn’t wake up again until 7:50. “10 minutes!” I screamed to no one imparticular. Rushing around my room, I grabbed a random outfit which consisted of ripped jeans and a sweatshirt. Putting it on quickly, I rushed out the door and onto the bus. Not even a second after I walked into the building, I hear, “Imani, you’re out of dress code!” If you were a student attending a school with a dress code where girls had more rules to follow then boys, how would feel? Would having not as strict dress code make it easier to be comfortable? Why should guys have the benefit of getting distracted by looking at a women when they should be working but girls have to take the punishment? Dress code is unfair.

On a hot day, girls wants to wear shorts and a tank top. I understand booty shorts are unacceptable because who wants to look at flat butts, I don’t, but regular shorts should be acceptable. Something that isn’t revealing as much as ripped shorts would be. No one wants to have on a t-shirt and capris.Schools should allow their students to wear what they please to an extent. It would cause students to be able to enjoy their time in school, not having worry what their teachers will say about what their wearing. If that's the case we all might as well have uniforms, white polo shirt and blue jeans. I'm not going to lie, some people go overboard. If there was no dress code at all, people would come to school in booty shorts, pajamas or crop tops and saggy pants. The dress code is worse for girls than guys because they have more to show.
