Box Elder High School and Colony High School both have specific dress codes. First we will go over some things that the two high schools have in common. Then we will go over some things that are different.…
Reporter, Tara Deschamps published a report on dress codes on Toronto students. Alex Halket had never been suspended or expelled in her 14 years of being in school. Nevertheless, it came to pass when she decided to go to class in a bare midriff with sleeveless and black patterned crop top. Since then, she has not stepped in her principal’s office. Halket’s vice principal pulled her into the office and told her that the dress code was too inappropriate and looked too much like a bra.…
Dallas Independent School District Dress Codes The Dallas Independent School District was established in the year 1884, which consisted of six segregated schools at the time. Today the DISD has grown to two-hundred and thirty schools, is the second largest district in Texas, and the twelfth in the United States. Since the district serves about 150,000 students, there has to be some type of dress code enforcement, just liked any other educational institute. Pre-K- 8th Grade Uniform Dress Code School uniforms for the Dallas independent school district were put into effect in the year 2005.…
You should be able to come to school dressed however because that will make it much easier and comfortable instead of having to worry about dress code every morning. Then there's some teachers who take the dress code to seriously instead of their actual job they want to be a freaking fashion police. These teachers take up too much of their time trying to dress code when they need to be focusing on their grades and why some students are failing or even focusing on putting grades in grade speed the main teachers who dress code are the ones who never have good curriculum or good grade averages.…
Dress codes standards send home students every day, all over the country, for being too revealing. Most are girls, and on occasions, boys that struggle with the standards, therefore they should be lowered. It’s taking away from your class time, limits self-expression, and the rules can sometimes not be correctly administered are all problems caused by dress codes standards. The dress code can take away from class time because everyone is more concerned with how we are dressed, rather than worrying about if we’ll do good on our next math test, or studying for the history final. During class, teachers can stop their lesson to tell one of their students that they are violating dress codes, therefore taking time away from class and from other students learning for something that is not relevant outside of school.…
Why Should Schools Not Have Dress Codes “I don’t care about that dress code. When you always look good, it’s not a problem.” -Peja Stajakovic Schools with dress codes are unfair to those who wish to fulfill themselves. Students have a right to dress how they want, they choose to be responsible or not. They should not have a dress code because it banishes creativity, can create violence, and some families cannot afford the cost.…
Clothing having to with graphic/violent or religious scenes can offend many people, which is why many dress codes are strict about this, and so is mine. However at the same time, my dress code still allows for students to express themselves to a degree. One case involved several high school students who wore black armbands to school to protest U.S. involvement in Vietnam. School officials quickly enacted a no armband policy. The students sued the school through their parents after being told they couldn’t wear their armbands to school.…
Schools should change or get rid of the dress code because it's unfair, a waste of money, and it’s a waste of time. 70% to 85% of kids don’t want a dress code. The dress code prevents kids from expressing themselves I think that we should get rid of it or change it to only a couple things are dress code . The dress code is unfair to kids it takes a lot of time to get ready because of the dress code they have to find the right close so they don’t get in trouble.…
Many students today are not listening to the authority over them. Many students think they are tougher than the adults, because I’ve been there and done that. In conclusion, I’ve told you the positive and negative things about the dress codes at schools and what can/cannot happen to the students. There are many times when students cannot find their ways out of the troubles that they face each and every day of their lives.…
The idea of school dress codes being sexist and encouraging rape culture has become very popular across school districts. There are stories about protests and strikes all around the country. I have witnessed these “dress code violations” and from what I witnessed, none of these girls were in the wrong. There have been too many times that young ladies get dress coded because what they are wearing is a “distraction” to young men. These boys need to be taught self control and I should not get punished because I was dressing comfortably for the weather.…
Overall, I have concluded that there should be dress code guidelines for certain jobs, but they should ban them from schools. Kids should be worrying about their education and not their style. There is nothing wrong with dressing how you want to dress; so if a dress code is a problem, then simply try go somewhere else if you're able. Not everyone is going to agree with your style, but if it makes you happy, then don't worry about what people think. It's your lifestyle, and you deserve to be able to live your life the way you want!…
We all know that group of girls who show up to school with their breast popping out of their shirts, butts hanging out of their shorts, and belly shirts that show way too much skin. Obviously, dressing like this to school is in no way appropriate, and should be addressed. Another argument of why the dress code should be enforced is the fact that school is a learning environment and that we should be teaching kids how to dress for the future. By doing this, you are helping young adults understand that wearing a crop top or (for boys) wearing saggy pants to an interview definitely won’t get you a job. Others may say that enforcing the dress code, like providing school uniforms, will help families that are in poverty and will decrease bullying when it comes to making fun of someone’s…
Parents around the world believe that their kids should have to be considered a sex magnet by the way they look because of the clothes they wear. Some school adminastartors around the world believe that repression a students freedom to wear what they want will cause harm to them academically and mentally. Some kids love what they wear becuase it makes them focus and able to be happy by what they are wearing and not worrying about if they fit in or not. Should high schools adopt a dress code? Some pros are they can make a safer…
If the situation is getting out of hand such as when the Albemarle County, Va passed rules towards a new dress code when lawsuits were filed and eventually taken to court where the judge said,”’the dress code is too broad-- and may be unconstitutional’”(Robson para. 6). With a school under these lawsuits and feeling as though their students are wearing inappropriate clothing; the easiest way to handle the situation is to enforce a school uniform. This way all genders are treated equally, the reasoning behind the rules are set in a reasonable manner, and the dress code is easy for everyone to follow. All schools that don't require a certain uniform including Jackson High School should adjust their dress code with the ideas of: the difficulty to follow the dress code, the reasoning behind the dress code, and the inequality of gender treatment. These changes in all schools alike would make the environment so much better for teenage girls constantly on the search for clothes that are, cute, appropriate, and fit their size.…
Dress codes have been demanded by schools in order to not distract kids, sexualizes girl’s bodies, and tell them that wearing a tank top is inappropriate. Orenstein explains how her daughter will be restricted to wear short shorts next school year. I think that dress codes have become too strict. In some school’s girls cannot wear strappy shirts or tanks, yoga pants, or shorts that do not past your mid-thigh. I agree with this article The Battle Over Dress Codes, that dress codes have become too strict and unreasonable.…
