Take it off! You’re not school dress code! These phrases are heard daily at the Woodlynde School. Teachers will yell at students to take off their jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts, or fleeces everyday because they’re not in dress code. What teachers don’t know is that, students strongly dislike this rule. The school’s dress code for outerwear costs too much, it’s easy to lose, and it looks too much like others. Children who want to learn shouldn’t have to pay more or take off their own sweaters or jackets just because it’s not in dress code.
Young people who go to this school already pay enough money to actually go to here and get an education. The prices, depending on where you get your jackets or sweatshirts from, can go up to $39.00. That’s a big amount of money just for one item and the prices may even go up because of shipping it. Another individual, may accidentally take another student’s jacket by mistake thinking that it is theirs. All of the jackets, fleeces, sweaters, and sweatshirts all look alike and hard to tell who’s is who’s. It is also possible to lose or misplace it. The school building does have heating, but that also means it can get to warm and a student may take off their jacket. This could lead to it getting left behind and forgotten. Once this happens, another person may just take it for their own or bring it to the teacher, who will then try to figure out who it may belong to or turn it into the lost and found. The lost and found items, all look the same and it’s very hard to tell if it’s the one you are looking for. One way of fixing this problem is to write your name on a tag so it doesn’t get stolen or lost but, not all students follow this and don’t write their names on their
