School Culture Typology Activity

When considering the type of climate and culture Park Middle School expects to provide to students and staff, many factors contribute to Park receiving mostly comfortable collaborative and fully collaborative ratings according to the descriptors in Gruenert and Whitaker’s School Typology Activity (see Appendix F). Following further review of the School Culture Typology Activity, three aspects of the results immediately resonated with me. First, there is the fact that our staff scored “comfortable collaborative” regarding openness amongst themselves as well as administration. We, as teachers, are committed to meeting during team planning but the discussion of practices requires stronger interest in the actual instruction approaches implemented.
