My Career As A Career In High School

Decent Essays
I remember that when I was young and in elementary school that they would ask you what you wanted to be when you grew up, and like most I probably said something like a hairstylist or doctor. It wasn’t until junior high school that I truly thought about what I should do when I grew up. When I was in seventh grade I honestly thought about being a teacher, but in a very broad way. As i went through the many grades of high school my thoughts have changed. I went to many things but my main focus was that I would love to teach something to someone. I slowly focused down to teaching high school, and then to history.

I had a chemistry teacher that really liked the way I learned chemistry so she had me help tutor some of her students. She also had me grade papers and help with organizing things in her classroom. By learning these things, I feel that it will help me when I become a teacher myself. What I do now to prepare myself for teaching high school is basically going to college. So taking classes that I know I’ll need to get my degree and will help in the long run. For my future preparation I plan on tutoring for the school and aiding teachers again. I think by doing these things I can teach myself how to teach and help professors grade and other things that will eventually contribute to my career. I also think that my experience while student teaching will definitely aid my plans. Career choices are difficult to make. Over half the kids I talk to in my classes are undeclared or a have temporarily declared generals as their major. This is not something you just one day know that you’re doing. It is something that takes time and effort to figure out. People are expecting it just come to them instead of being prepared and trying out bits of different career paths. I think what deters people from making a choice is the idea that it won’t work for them or that it’s not what they are supposed to be doing. I think that if you find something that makes you happy or just works for you, you should do
