Everywhere in the world schooling has became a necessity to move forward in life. Learning the skills and receiving the education that is necessary to settle down in life. But does it matter how and where you get your education? Many parents believe that homeschooling their children is a benefit to their child and is helping them do better. The counterargument for this is that homeschooling children completely is a mental fall back for the children and does not prepare them for the real world. This debate on one side is a decision made by the parents on how they want their child to get an education, whereas on the other side it is looking at the necessary physical and metal interaction a child needs for their future in this society.

Ray, Ph.D, the president of National Home Education Research Institute. He holds his Ph.D. in science education from Oregon State University. Brian Ray does research on home school education. In his research under RESEARCH FACTS ON HOMESCHOOLING, he gives many facts and statistic on how home schooling is much better than public schooling. Ray states “The home-educated typically score 15 to 30 percentile points above public-school students on standardized academic achievement tests.” He states facts that homeschooling is better since the education they are receiving is more superior than public schooling. Throughout his research we see many facts that convince us that home schooling is better. We send our children to school to get an education, but they are doing better while studying at home and getting a better education rather than going to public schools. Another study that shows home schooling children is beneficiary for a student is “Strengths of Their Own: Homeschoolers Across America.” Study was conducted in 1997 in which 5,402 children from 1,657 families from across the United States took part in. After the study was conducted it showed that home schooled children scored 30-35% more effectively in every subject compared to public schooled children. In an article ‘Homeleaning and 'Homeschooling’ it gave statistics on getting admitted into Stanford University stating, “Homeschooled students, better students: Stanford University accepted 26% of the 35 homeschoolers who applied - nearly double its overall acceptance rate. (Article of Sep. 11, 2000, Times)” This shows that home schooled students are receiving a better education than those that go to public schools, while the whole purpose of sending students to a school is for

Not Homeschooling? What’s Your Excuse? leaves one with the feeling that in some of the populace’s minds brainwashing occurs at public schools in order to control the IQ of the upcoming generations. That can be gathered and Vaughan’s claims that what she teaches her son is just as good as what public school can teach your kids so, in accordance to her claim it could be gathered that all it takes to educate your own children at home is the determination. Which means that children can be homeschooled instead of being sent to schools that test and rank them according to the information they can retain as opposed to relevant skills that will allow children…

While Ray’s argument is effectively focused on the benefits of home schooling benefitting the public good, his logic is tainted by logical fallacies. His claim hinges on the reason that “increasing the number of well-educated, socially stable, and civically active individuals advances the public good”, but this offers a very narrow focus on the only way to base the impact of home schooling for the public good. He then goes on to claim that “Americans agree that several things benefit society.” This fallacy assumes that all Americans believe in the three principles that are listed such as “freedom of choice applies to directing the upbringing and education of one’s own progeny…having authentic educational choices is itself a democratic institution…

Being that I have experience with various ways to educate children, it is interesting to see how much children can learn regardless of if they are homeschooled or not. The homeschool policy, however, offers several advantages when it comes to educating children. As I have previously stated, it allows the family to grow closer together. Not only does it strengthen families, but it also protects and promotes families as a whole which is an important part of this family…

White uses words like struggling, extensive, endless, challenging, isolated and suffer” or phrases like “frowned upon” to convince you that homeschooling is the best option. She also writes that Phyllis Papa, who was homeschooled herself and now homeschools her children, prepared lessons in subjects like “violin, math, reading, gymnastics, etiquette and history in a free form approach that obviously worked” (77). The phrase “obviously worked” is meant for you to take Papa at her word, because White paints her as an expert, having been homeschooled and also having homeschooled her own children. While mostly letting her evidence speak for itself, White conservatively uses strong adjectives to appeal to our…

This causes tension for public schools that rely on attendance for state funding. Despite the controversy, statistics continue to show that homeschooled students are academically advanced and score higher on average than the pupils who attend public school (McElroy). This makes it difficult for the government to justify a need to intervene in current policy regarding homeschooling. As compared to traditional school systems, homeschooled students "G.P.A's are higher and scores on standardized tests for college admission are also higher" (Cogan). This information helps to focus on how each educational option stacks up against one another academically.…

This article provides a counter argument for my paper. George Shepard expresses the harm homeschooling can cause for public schools. He explains homeschooling and private schools provide a choice for children educations causing public school education to decline. He states, “students learned best when they learned together in public schools that taught a common core of civic values: that government-run and government-funded schools were the path towards social equality and the creation of a good citizen” (Shepard 5). Homeschooling values and goals are opposite of public schools; homeschooling promoting independence and intelligence, not equality and socially acceptable.…

Homeschooling, also known as home education, involves the education of children at home instead of receiving education at a traditional private or public school. According to Bauman (2011), many students are schooled at home and the number in the United States is growing at 15 to 20 percent per year. It is a system in which parents prefer their children to be educated at home and argue that it is more beneficial for them. There are those who advocate homeschooling, while there are some skeptics about homeschooling as well. Homeschooling is becoming very popular and many see it as being a bad idea due to the fact that teachers in traditional schools are better qualified due to years of training, the child’s socialization skills will be negatively…

In other words, homeschooled kids might be less confident, shy and cannot show up all their potential in adult life. However, studies indicate that the reality is quite the opposite. For example, an expert from Foundation for economic education points out that “homeschooled children are better socialized with both peers and adults” (McElroy, 2015). If homeschooled children actually do not have any problems in academic performance…

Parents try to think whether they should or should not put their child in home school. Well they shouldn’t, kids should not be home schooled because kids can react to things in a different way. Kids can also have problems they can’t face because they never got to prepare for it during their past. Kids should be schooled because it would be hard for them to socialize with people and make new friends. Debate.org states that “ They shouldn’t because how do your children get social skills, and they won’t have any friends.…

Since test scores tend to be higher for homeschoolers than their public school counterparts, homeschooling is a very effective option for many parents. It provides parents with time to spend with their children while learning in a way that is conducive to their learning style. However, it all depends on the efforts of the parents and children to remain dedicated to their education. Over half of all home-schooled children do return to regular classroom instruction after a period of time, but most do count it as a success. Homeschooling is not for everyone, but most of the ones who do it count it as a success, even the ones who do not continue with home education.…
