Our world cares and nurtures over 7 billion people -which is rapidly rising-, drains about about 400 quadrillion BTUs of energy each year, and desperately tries to meet the basic needs of every human being. Every year, we demand more and more from our Mother Earth while her supplies cannot replenish as fast as we take, and consequently, will not meet our energy needs in the next upcoming years. Specifically in the United States, in 2014 we consumed nearly 80.50 quadrillion BTUs of energy from petroleum, natural gas, and coal; which also is an increase from 2013 of approximately 1.03 quadrillion BTUs. I would be able to get a head start on life without worrying and being bound by debt, I would be able to attend an in-state school where I would be closer to family, and I would also be able to drive myself towards the career I have desired. I believe that this scholarship holds so many opportunities and gives ways to succeed; this is an exciting and amazing opportunity for a promising future. It would be also important to me because I want to be able to participate in internships where I can further my education and experience to gain more knowledge in the field. My ultimate goal for the future is to help make the world a better place by contributing my knowledge and experiences to renovate the energy industry. I feel that I can make a change in society and contribute beneficial factors into making life better for everyone because energy is an industry that everyone relies on. Even possibly, I want to be able to have these opportunities to travel globally to other energy countries to better the lives of those around me by working to improve technology and extraction methods. Humanity needs to build trust with the energy industry because humanity needs energy in order to survive and thrive. I want to be able to be a part of mending the bond between energy and humanity and eventually unite the world, one small step at a time because it is a special relationship to be able to have.
