The difference between scholarly research and personal experience in explaining child development is pretty cut and dry. With scholarly research on development you are able to review articles in which different findings for multiple children and adolescents are done either in a naturalistic observation or a controlled group with children that are essentially the same as the general population of children everywhere else. With anecdotal evidence you are given information about what worked for one child. Scholarly research is more reliable than someone else’s personal experience. We do not know which characteristics make an argument strong but the research in which the acceptance of a claim is supported by statistics looks a little stronger compared
