Scholarly research differs from others simply because it allows one to acquire knowledge through progression. Scholarly research is imperative to doctoral learners due to the fact we must be able to process information in way that is different from other types of research. In large part I think our cognitive skills are developed as result of the transition that occurs during the research process. I truly believe that we progress through each level of Bloom’s taxonomy: knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, and synthesis before we reach evaluation. Evaluation in my opinion helps us to develop our metacognitive skills so that we may discern or “make judgments about issues, resolving disparities or disagreements” that we may find
