Program Strengths
Schizophrenia4 uses Social Cognitive Theory to ground the program, this is appropriate as program goal is to change the behaviours that lead stigma. The program effectively addressed the cognitive factors that are associated with behaviour change by increasing knowledge in order to change expectations and attitudes. Social marketing campaigns are effective tools to us when trying to initiate behavioural changes, as they dispel myths and misconceptions, influence perceptions, beliefs and attitudes that may change behaviours. Social marketing campaigns are also effective at launching upstream changes. The actual poster campaign had a clear and effective message; it is challenges those who view it to address their preconceived notions about Schizophrenics. The pre/post knowledge quantitative survey/questionnaire is also an appropriate way to evaluate the effectiveness of the poster campaign. Overall, the poster activity (short term …show more content…
The workplace anti-stigma campaign was an attempt to increase assess to employment in the local community. The workshop activity is not clearly developed and failed to address what the buy in would be for local business. The program also failed to offer ideas or strategies on how to address the behavioural factors behind behaviour change each as; self-efficacy, skills and practice.
