Physical activity program to increase Sarah’s physical activity levels
Due to the fact that Sarah currently is not engaged in any sort of physical activity, I as a public health practitioner have developed a program that will progressively assist her to be more active overtime. The exercise program will be divided into 4 three weeks periods. For instant, table below shows that the first exercise period (week 1-3), Sarah will complete 30 minutes of moderate walking for 3 times a week by the end of week 3. As Sarah progresses through the program the intensity and frequency will gradually increase in order to assist her to manage her depression and also to avoid injuries with engaging in too much physical activity too fast (Sylliaas, Wyller and Bergland, 2013). For example I have increased her frequency of walking from 3 times a week to 7 times a week. In addition to walking, Sarah will be encouraged to run every other day to increase the intensity of her physical activity. The intensity and frequency of Sarah’s physical activity will be gradually be increased in order to prevent plateau in Sarah’s physical activity and to correctly ensure that she will continually challenge herself to improve overtime (Sylliaas, Wyller and Bergland, 2013). Furthermore given that Sarah has never enjoyed exercising I will start progressively with 15-20 minutes of moderate physical activity on
