Schizophrenia And Catatonia Research Report

For the DB2, I am focused on the contributions immigrants make in the U.S economy. I went to the public library and found quite a few books on immigration. Some of these books have outdated statistics that are relevant to my topic, so finding current information and data on how immigrants play a vital role in the U.S economy was a bit difficult. Similarly, I watched a documentary on the immigrant entrepreneurs who have played a significant role in technological innovations and creating businesses. I also found two scholarly journal articles on how immigrants grease the wheels of the U.S economy by entering the labor market. I am thinking of using two books, one full-length documentary and one journal article as academic sources. I might use one or two popular sources as well. Watching documentary and finding scholarly journals were fairly easy. …show more content…
Instead, she could have defined what Schizophrenia and Catatonia are first. And specify how these illnesses could impact individual and his/her family as a whole. I liked her thesis statement though as she asked questions on Schizophrenia and Catatonia symptoms and their treatments. She finishes her thesis by noting that the solution could assist a person with the illness and his/her family as well. Also, I liked the way concluded her research with something memorable. This was a cogent thing to do being that she was trying to show how many people are affected by psychological disorders and how many people will be affected in the coming years if something is not done. This gives the audience a sense importance in changing the way mental illness is viewed in news stories and how not addressing the issue could only lead to a vaster impact. She cites a 2011 survey given by the American College Health Association, The American Psychiatric Association, a study published in Journal of Mental Health Counseling, and other sources as well. Compiling these resources together with alarming percentages she gives the ground breaking evidence for her thesis. “A 2011 survey conducted by the American College Health Association found that 50% of students have experienced overwhelming anxiety, more than 80% have felt emotionally exhausted, 30% have been so depressed that they had trouble functioning, 20% have been formally diagnosed with depression, and 7% have contemplated suicide (Anaya pg.84).”…

Cynthia is a 29-year-old financial planner who is married and the mother of three children. Her husband brought her to the emergency room after having spent the past 12 days in “another cycle of depression,” marked by a quick temper, almost no sleep and tearfulness. He noted that these “dark periods” have gone on as long as he has known her but that she had experienced at least a half dozen of these episodes in the prior year. Cynthia’s husband reported that her mood typically stabilizes within a few weeks of restarting her fluoxetine. He added that he wondered whether alcohol and clonazepam worsened her symptoms, because she routinely ramped up their use when the dark periods begin.…

From the beginning of the novel, I was already hooked. Her writing was very compelling and it is what drew me to read chapter after chapter. Another thing that I appreciated throughout the novel was how she wrote her chapters. I liked how she condensed the chapters and filled them with only pertinent information. The thing that annoyed me about the novel was how she left a lot of unanswered questions at the ending of the novel.…

I think it is an amazing thing that Martha Ballard’s family kept her diaries for all those years and took care of them so well that we are able to read and learn from them now. The Behind the Scenes section gave a great history of where the diaries came from and what Martha Ballard was like. I was very impressed to find out how much responsibility and education she had for a woman of her time. Many people relied on Martha Ballard and her skills as a midwife among other things. I was surprised to find out the doctors in that time had very little to do with childbirth and in fact were only called if there was an emergency.…
