Schizencephaly: A Case Study

The second rarest brain malformation in the world. It is identified by a clef or slit in the brain. There can be one slit or two and it can be opened or closed. Depenending on where the slit is depends on what the outcome will be and even then there is no guaranteed. It is believed that Schizencephaly is caused by a fetal stroke and some believe that there may be a gene that causes it, however it has not been proven. There is no cure for Schizencepephaly. Well, it was December of 2008 when I found out that Nadia had a diagnosis. Any time you hear the world diagnosis, it feels like trouble is headed your way.
