Schema And Reconstructive Memories

The experiment performed by our class replicated the paradigm tested by Roediger and McDermott, which examines schema and reconstructive memories: memories that are falsely conjured because of associated details and themes linked to an event. Similar to the original experiment, our class investigated the fabrication of memories by listening and recognizing words read aloud from 6 lists. Each of the words for each set followed a familiar pattern.
Experimenters are able to hypothesize that with the higher the number false hits on both tests, the higher tendency a participant formulates false memories by measuring how often a participant inaccurately records a word that fits the theme of a word list (false recall), and when participants incorrectly point out a word they believe they heard (false recognition).

Additionally, I believe that I personally, do not have a strong short-term memory, so I will be more prone to a higher number of false hits on both tests. The independent variable were the 6 lists that were orally recited, and the dependent variable was the numbers of words participants were able to remember during the recall and recognition
