Departmentalization, by program, function, process, market, client, or by geographic area, allows this organization to focus on one area within the organization. Another advantage in departmentalization is there is one person who is in charge of each department, and they can specialize and focus on that one area of the organization. Although there is one person over a department, it can be a disadvantage to have unproductive employees, not as knowledgeable as the supervisor. This can cause frequent turnover, which leads to more training and hiring costs. • Clients or consumers- What is the need in the community? What service is in demand? Is this an ongoing need? Who will be the client or consumer? • Supplies- Who is the labor force? Where can these workers be recruited from in the community or from what agencies. • Competitors- Evaluating the competition can be the most important because if the cliental is not present, there is no need for the agency and a sure loss of revenue. Evaluating Sociological Factors a manager has to examination the needs of the community. Who lives in the community: gender, ethnicity, economic make up, education, and other demographic factors? Examine Political/Professional Factors are by researching regulations, expectations, and the professional climate should be assessed. Technological factors including researching latest technology that can help the agency be the most productive. All of these factors are very important to this human service organization. Each factor can assist this agency in understanding the external environment. Internal Factors also help an organization achieve optimal function. • Organizational planning- the setting of operational goals short and long-term strategy for the organization. • Organizational Operations focuses on the how each facet of the organization will be run. • Human Resources focus on the plan for personnel, which consist of the hiring, retention, training, and development of the personnel. • Technological Resources would maintain that the organization keeps up with the latest technology and that it is running efficiently. • Financial Resources uses to evaluate the performance of personnel. These internal factors as well as the above mentioned external factors are important to ensure that a human service program is running efficiently. Total costs whether direct or indirect are important to this organization. Below are the budgets for the next three years.
