Scattered Bones Character Analysis

The first time the party (and the player) are introduced to Rose, it's when they meet the merchant guild, the Sparrowfeathers. Rose serves as their leader, and has all the charisma, charm that one would expect from a merchant. As a leader she's responsible and reliable, and is able to deal with (and make the decisions for) effectively two different guilds.

When making decisions, Rose is, first and foremost, someone who almost always follows her gut. She's gifted with a good business sense, and as a part of this, she tends to play things by ear and decide as she goes along. Nowhere is this more evident than in the work she does with her assassin's guild; the Scattered Bones have a creed to not kill anyone who doesn't need killing, and so Rose often follows potential targets to decide if they're really dangerous before going through with a job. Ultimately, Rose (and by extension the Scattered Bones), take on the work that nobody wants to do, so that nobody else has to, as is explicitly stated when she's asked to kill the Queen Regent of Rolance. The Scattered Bones only target people who would be extremely harmful to others, and so by her line of thinking, her doing the deed is saving someone else from having to carry that burden. This is shown when she kills Cardinal Forton; when it becomes apparent that there's no way Cardinal Forton can be cleansed of malevolence, she jumps in front of Sorey, delivering the killing blow instead. To her, Sorey is still pure, and such an act would affect him greatly. On the other hand, it's something that she's used to, and so she's willing to carry that burden

She wanted the concepts and beliefs behind the White Rose resistance group to live on among the people and spread like wildfire, even if it meant that she would have to die for her cause. The value that she placed on sticking up for her strong cause was what motivated her to remain calm through her interrogations and trials. Sophie considered standing up for what she believes to be important in the way she chose to live her life. Ever since she was a little girl, her father instilled that value in her and her brother, Hans, by telling them, “I want you to live honest and free lives, even though it may be difficult” (Scene 13). Even when faced with the possibility of death, Sophie remained calm, level-headed, and strong in the fight for what she believed.…

The Mind at Work, written by Mike Rose is a story about day-to-day jobs that people partake in for a living, his main purpose of this story was to make people aware of the need to take notice of forms of intelligence that have not been tested through IQ tests and bring various things together like how the brain and hand can not be separated, they work dynamically. In this essay, I will go over the key points that I thought Rose wanted his readers to understand also, what I disagree with and agree with and also how the hand and brain work together. I found that the first couple of chapters in the book went over the key points rather than the last couple of chapters, Rose explains that all work has some sort of skill required to do the job…
