"Thank you." I chuckled. It was a little funny watching him go from laughing to trying to control his emotions. "You should smile more too." I said and took a bite of food. "I don't find many things worth smiling about." I rolled my eyes. "Yea I've noticed." It was a random thought but I couldn't help wonder how I was going to get a hang on mind reading. "Hey um how can I do the mind reading thing without passing out?" My question caught him off guard and he stopped chewing mid-bite. "Practice. I'm not sure why but when you tried it on me your ability took you farther back than it should have. Most people have to practice to go that far back in memories. For you though that's what happened first. It's very peculiar."

"I prefer this one. I like to think of it as spirits rising from the depths of mankind." I was taken a back by his comment. The painting was called 'sunrise at ferrycarrig'. It was a landscape painting. I could see where he was coming from, though. There were dark blues and reds reaching up from the water. Alister led me to another painting. The texture looked rough and exposed. It was a mix of all different colors but mostly white. The painting was called 'wandering' by Kingelee John. "This makes me feel lost." I said. "It makes me curious. I wonder what the painter thought of as they created this." Said, …show more content…
It was called 'rough sea' by Madden Bernadette. I admired it from a distance letting Alister observe Kingelee Johns work. The ocean floor was red and the water blue. It was like two opposite worlds conjoining into a gorgeous one. When I saw the black and white work is when I walked away from Alister. Both creations were of trees. "I see these caught your eye." I nodded. "Why do you like them?" Alister asked. I shrugged. "They make me feel peaceful. I love nature and the natural beauty of trees."

The names of the art were 'parkland series #1' and 'summer anthem' by Wann Michael. These by far were my favorite out of the whole gallery. Alister had walked away and was admiring a painting by Wheeler Patricia called 'reflection 1'. I joined Alister's side. "This one is surreal." Alister nodded in agreement. "It looks like we've seen everything. Are you ready to go?" I took his hand and smiled. "Yea." I wonder where we're going

Why are some sins put on a pedestal in our society while others are ignored? In The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, protagonist Hester Prynne is shunned by a condemnatory Puritan society when her sin is discovered. Dimmesdale is protected by Hester and when he finally revealed that he was her lover, the town was far more forgiving than he had anticipated. In modern society, adulterers are not forced to display the letter A on their chest or stand on a scaffold to be publicly shamed, but the underlying concept is still prevalent. An example of this that possesses many parallels to The Scarlet Letter is the "Lewinsky Scandal” that emerged in 1998.…

The effects of guilt can be seen at the beginning of the story in regards to the way that individuals in the colony perceive inappropriate actions. By first setting the stage by providing a context in which adultery is viewed as an extremely odious offense, Hawthorne creates an apt world which sets the stage for the rest of the story. As Puritan ideals that emphasize the need to remain accepted in society according to a strict set of values exist, so does the greater potential to be judged harshly for failing to meet these standards. Sin, in regards to exposed social impropriety, can most obviously be seen in the sentencing of the main character, Hester.…
