“Money makes the world go round” -Cabaret In my eyes money is the second most powerful thing on earth. People will give their lives trying to make large sums of money. Money is defined differently throughout different cultures and different countries. Some may define money as anything that has value and can be traded through the fingers of people, whether that be the actual green paper itself and coins, materials such as gold or diamonds, sexual intercourse, or any other way you can get out of an owned debt. Money is respect. I’ve never seen my seven year old cousin without some sort of gaming system in his presence, so seeing him play a game is never anything new. Although, this one game caught my attention when every single person got out of their seats and left. In the film the protagonist named Tony is offered a deal for a green card. Although, a green card is not money it is a material good and leads up to him getting money. The deal is if Tony kills a man named Emilio Rebenga he will receive his green card, which he does kill him. People will do anything if it means bettering their lives and their wealth. After all the corrupt things Tony ends up doing to gain wealth such as selling drugs and being involved with mafias, he ends up dying by falling into a pool with a quote that reads below him that says “The world is yours”. A good life in the United States requires money therefore, if people do not have money they are willing to give their lives for money because their lives weren’t “good enough” for them in the first
