Scarface Shame of A Nation and Scarface 1983 both used continuity editing, where the editing is so smooth you do not notice where scenes were edited. The actor’s eyes and the object they focused on, are linked together with eye line matches. The continuity editing keeps the film’s viewer’s attention on the plot, and does not distract them from the story. In the scene when Frank is begging Tony not to shoot him and Tony tells him he’s not going to and orders Rinaldo to shoot him. The way the film is edited allows Tony Montana to remain the focus in that entire scene even though the other characters are in view. The same thing occurred in Shame of a Nation when Tony and Rinaldo are in the Johnny Lovo’s office after Tony was mugged, even though Rinaldo and Johnny can be seen in the scene the entire focus was on Tony. There is medium shot in Scarface 1983 when you see Alex on the phone with Tony it only shows him from the waist up and also in Shame of a Nation when Cesca is talking to Rinaldo with her hands on her hips you can only see her from the waist up until she starts to dance. You see close up shots in Scarface 1982 when Tony Montana first meets Elvira and the camera is zoomed in on his facial reaction to her beauty and in Shame of a Nation when Tony Camonte is whistling in Johnny Lovo’s office the close up shot shoes his anger towards Johnny. Crane Shot is seen in Shame of a Nation when the police arrived outside of Cesca’s apartment after Tony killed Rinaldo. The two shot angle occurs in the scene when Tony Camonte is talking to Rinaldo in the vehicle after he shot Big Louis and when Tony Montana was walking and talking to Sosa outside right before the helicopter scene.
