Scaffolding Research Paper

Imagine a young child in a fast paced classroom. In the classroom the majority of the children are grasping the concept of a new skill however, the child is confused and has no understanding of the skill at all. Additionally, the teacher is paying no attention to the child making this child feel neglected and embarrassed. This child now also feels left behind and most likely will despise being in the classroom since the child’s needs are not being met. This child’s academic success is now jeopardy, and for the sake of every child that has trouble learning the scaffolding method needs to be used. Scaffolding is the most important in preschool through elementary school age children. In the early stages of childhood children in school start to learn the basics, and when children are able to effectively learn the basics it creates a sturdy foundation for their education. If Scaffolding is not used by the teacher in the classroom a child can become very frustrated when trying to learn something new. When children feels like they are not learning as fast as their peers it can make them want to give up on education altogether which is why Scaffolding is important because the method allows every child to feel confident in their selves when they are in the classroom and it makes them more interested in learning. An example of Scaffolding in a classroom would be for the teacher to meet with every child in class before giving a test, and as the teacher meets with each child she would quiz the child on the subject to determine how much the child knows before testing.
