Sb 302 Case Study

On behalf of the families who live in low income communities in Nevada, we express opposition to Senate Bill 302 relating to private school savings accounts for students attending private school.

SB 302 directly allocates state general funds from Nevada’s public schools to fund tuition costs for private school attendance. The method by which tuition vouchers are going to be issued to parents enrolling children in private schools would divert taxpayer funds toward financial holding fees.

Our schools are severely underfunded now and by allocating the 90% basic allotment per student enrolled by SB 302 diverted from public school funds, it takes away a significant amount of funding that will drive costs up to fix aging campuses, maintenance,

Earlier this month, Hillary Clinton unveiled her plan to make college more affordable. The plan, titled the New College Compact, would allow students to attend a four-year public college without taking out loans for tuition, while also providing states with higher enrollments of low- and middle-income students with more funding. The Compact would cost $350 billion over the next ten years, and would primarily be paid for through closing tax loopholes and capping tax deductions wealthy families can take on tax returns.…

The Article “An Endless War”, is a rendition of the budget cuts that have been made within this year’s school budget. This article is interesting because the budget cut has eliminated an avid amount of funding for certain programs. Programs such as the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), that provide scholarships and grants to different agencies, are one of the programs to be affected by the cut. With regards to the future of the following eras, there are multiple affecting components that are vital to the government-funded school training of the general population of this country. The government is cutting back on potentially great programs that can benefit the future workforce and/or government positions.…

Argument Over the past 20 years, in-state tuition and fees at public National Universities, have increased a ridiculous 296 percent, according to U.S. News. This increase has made receiving a higher education extremely difficult for lower middle class and poorer families. Often if these families try to send their children to college, they either pile on debt or tell their child they’re on their own. Both of these situations can cause issues such as family tension, crippling financial situations, and often a situation that is very difficult to get out of.…

Bernie Sanders is a sassy old man and enemy to Donald Trump, a headstrong and unapologetic democrat, and a favorite among millennials. In 2016, he ran for president and competed for the coveted democratic nomination against the now-president Donald Trump, which he lost to Hillary Clinton. Being a 75 year old man who repels nearly every right wing associated person, it is at first confusing as to why so many young voters were attracted to him until his educational platform is brought forward. One of his main promises to the U.S. was to eradicate student debt attributed to college and to make higher education free. Upon hearing this, thousands of people, most of who were in college, immediately sided with Bernie, desperate to have their debt…

Public school funding has been an ongoing issue for years. No matter how wealthy the district is, there can be an issue for all when the funds are not distributed fairly. Without enough funds from the government, schools cannot provide adequate supplies for the classroom, cannot provide sufficient transportation cost and cannot pay salaries to those involved in the school district such as teachers and administration. Public school funding also helps provide reduced and free meals to students who qualify. What a lot of people don’t know is where all of this money is coming from and who is paying for it.…

I am a currently an undergraduate student at University of West Georgia working on a degree in Computer Science and I would like to address you on an issue that has been brought to my attention, the cost of receiving a secondary education. I believe that the price of gaining knowledge shouldn’t lead you into debt. Therefore I’m pleading for you to pass the H.R.678 - Student Loan Relief Act of 2001 into a federal law because it amends the Internal Revenue Code to eliminate the 60-month limit on student loan interest deductions; and increase the student loan interest deduction income limitation. Being that I am a college student, I’m speaking on behalf of all the students in college when I say that it is affecting us tremendously.…

    Education In Texas

With budget cuts to education and financial aid being decreased across the board with tuition costs being increased at the same time, less people can afford to pursue higher learning and sometimes can’t afford Pre-K to High School for their children. Teachers also suffer from this as their jobs become just that, jobs. Often times they are laid off by districts in order to cope with the sudden loss of funds which affects their families as well as their students. Lesser known in this battle are school bus drivers who also fall under the umbrella as education; they too, are laid off when budgets are cut and suffer from decreased pay from an already low paying job. The legislature tends to wait until there is a course case to focus on school funding and possible changes in how school funding operates because they’d rather it be a “silent” problem until people start to notice and have a public outcry about it.…

It was against this severe situation that the Ohio Legislature enacted a program designed to give students in failing schools a choice in education. The program was Ohio’s Pilot Project Scholarship Program, hereby as PPSP, which provided tuition aid in the form of vouchers for students in Cleveland City School District to attend participating public or private schools of their parent’s choosing. The tuition aids are made available in the form of checks payable to the parents, who choose the school to which the checks will be sent. By 1999-2000, 82% of private schools that participated were religious schools (Jennings, 2002). Typically, religiously affiliated schools cost less than private independent schools, which explains the large percentage…

The rise of college admission prices is an ongoing problem in America, caused by the inflated demand to educate more and more students each year. This continuous issue can be resolved by creating a tuition cap and a student loan borrowing limit. It must be addressed and recognized from the views of the government, families, and the colleges themselves before it can be solved.…
