Have you ever taken a road trip? Have you ever had someone you love be in the hospital? Have you ever mislead someone not knowing that you did? Savvy was a great read for me, and I hope this realistic fiction book is a great read for you too. The main character in this book is Mibs. She is 13 years old and very different. She is very tough and she has a special thing called a savvy. Every Beaumont gets there own savvy when they turn 13. Her brother Fish causes powerful storms. Her oldest brother Rocket is all about electricity. Mibs turns 13 and sets off to assist her hurt dad with the help of her savvy and a few friends. They end up on a man’s bus and have the time of their lives. They experience danger, sadness, happiness, and exhilaration on this amazing trip.

This book starts when Mibs dad gets hurt and goes to the hospital. While Mibs dad is in the hospital, Mibs turns 13. Mibs thinks she can help her dad with her new savvy. Then she and some friends

The action was good, the interest was very good, the character development was very good, the readability was very good, the story line was good. One main connection I had to this book was that my dad was once super hurt and I wanted to visit him too. One of Savvy’s strengths was that it had a lot of description. One of its weaknesses was that it was a little boring. This author's writing style was very good. Two quotes to support that are “The itty-bitty town of Bee, Nebraska, was about the size of a yellow striped bumbler; it could buzz right by you if you blinked too slow.” and “ Nervously, I took his hand in mine. The blue ink flowed out smooth and easy against Will Junior’s skin, and in a moment I’d drawn a smiling sun. The next moment, I jolted backward, tripping over a jutting porch plank and falling onto my tail end, as that smiling sun blinked its eyes and cleared its throat like it had woken up.
