Saved by the bell: “The Pilot” does a brilliant job of bringing out stereotypical values of college students in characters. James. A. Forbes once said “When people rely on surface appearances and false racial stereotypes, rather than in-depth knowledge of others at the level of the heart, mind and spirit, their ability to assess and understand people is accurately compromised.” This quote explains how imprecise stereotypical values can cloud our judgement. In this sitcom Zack is portrayed as the charming, pretty guy who always seems to find himself in trouble. Most colleges discourage staff from having such relationships with students because those kind of relationships can affect students’ performance in class. He also shows a degree partisanship in class. During the first lecture, Screech raises up his hand as an indication that he wants to answer a question but Professor Lasky first selects Slater and Zack and then later chooses Screech. This is not usually the case in college let alone the first lecture. Faculty customarily choose students who wish to participate in class and as time goes on, they encourage those who rarely participate to do
