As we sat there on the bench, the preacher called out to my Aunt Reed, wanting to know my name. My aunt told him, and he called me out by name, trying to convince me to be saved.
As I continued to hold out, I remember looking over at Westley and he grinned at me, all the time knowing that he had pulled a prank on all the church members.
Seeing that Westley had fooled everyone and had gotten away with it, and wanting to go home, I finally got up and walked over and pledged my life to God, and supposedly allowed his son, Jesus into my heart.
After the service was over, we returned home and everyone went to bed. As I laid there, I remember crying out in shame and disgust for what I had done. I remember thinking how could I tell her that it was all a hoax and that I really didn’t believe in God. But, unbeknownst to me, my aunt and uncle had heard me crying. My aunt had explained to my uncle that I was crying because I had been saved and that I finally accepted Jesus into my heart. However, this was as far from the truth as it could be since God had not helped me take that leap of
