I think you should go back and talk to all thoses English teachers that did not think to teach the difference between a Essay and a Story:) . we just covered this in my English class . So I wrote what the elements of each a story and an essay were. I explained by putting the element and its definition and using an example of a story (“Save the Moon for Kredy Dicitson”) and using an example of a Essay (The Value of a Mess). One of the many Stories and Essays we read in the past few weeks, to grasp the concept of the difference between a stories and an Essays. I hope some of this helps you finally understand what the difference between the one of them are.

Made of light metal tubing and a special clear plastic . You can see right into there house.Surrounding the woods stories are more descriptive painting a very clear picture in a person's head. The Island shaped like a kidney with a built in stove and sink. Lights recessed into the ceiling above bathe, the island in a warm glow. The second element in a story is the character. Examples are used to support the thesis (the main idea the writer is trying to prove). In the Essay “Value of a mess” there are examples of chores kids, should do based on their age groups. Chores for toddlers, 3-5 years old, 6-11, 12 years old and up. The Third element is explanation - it’s where the writer starts to expand on the examples. For “the Value of a Mess”. The writer explained the examples kids ages 3 - 5 years old can put their clothes away in drawers, toddlers dress themselves, 6 - 11 years old can peel vegetables, and kids 12 and up can do household repairs. The last element in a story is Intro/Conclusion. The Intro prepares the reader for the development of the thesis (big idea of the essays). The conclusion sums up what was stated in the essay. The Devil and Tom Walker, and Young Goodman Brown are two works of literature that were written a good amount of time ago. Both works of literature incorporate random parts in them that I thought could go back to Mary Rowlandson. The two stories have a lot in common as well as many differences. The conflict in Tom Walker was that he didn't want to die, and for the devil to take his soul. The conflict in Young Goodman Brown was that everyone around him had been tempted by the devil.…

The character in a story is the main foundation in any story, essay, or any other form of writing. These characters not only give the writing a purpose, but present the irony, symbols, and conflicts in the stories. Without the main character there would not be any sort of writing. The main character may also be dynamic, which means the change as the story goes on, or they may be flat, which meants that they don’t change. From the many stories we read in our class, I fell in love with the character Rochelle, from the story “The Bride” by author Christine Granados.…

Jonathan Swift’s A Modest Proposal is a neo- classical satiric parody narrated by a well-to-do English protestant who views the Irish as a poor and begging people who have no money. In this essay the narrator proposes that the Irish should sell their kids for money, and that these kids that are sold should be killed and eaten for a source of food. Since Swift had little confidence in mans ability to use his own reasoning, therefore he turned to the power of persuasion to convince man of there sins and foils and to indicate the right action. “It is a melancholy object to those who walk through this great town or travel in the country, when they see the streets, the roads, and cabin doors, crowded with beggars of the female sex, followed by three, four, or six children, all in rags and importuning every passenger for an alms…. or leave their dear native country to fight for the Pretender in Spain, or sell themselves to the Barbadoes.”…

In both of “The Banality of Heroism” and “The fair deserve the grape” slides, oppression is considered a major common problem. The history of the issue results in repetitive and social injustices in which both have been wide spread across the globe. However, these types of injustice mainly focus on age, racial backgrounds (Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, etc.) and specific gender quality (male or female). Even though these people respond to different types of oppression, the oppression, as you see here, is a common problem in both of these slides because it tries to gain the social and economic dominance from victims as well as inflicting pain towards them to get what the oppressors want.…

The First Romantic element, instinct vs reason is the most important element because it is used frequently in both stories.
