Save the International Students the Crap of Racism in Cape Breton University
Background Information
Life at Cape Breton University in Sydney is full of opportunity, diversity, and excellence in the academic field. The university has the largest population of international students out of the eleven universities located in Nova Scotia. Saint Mary’s University is second to CBU in terms of the population of international students. The rising number of students is contributed by the fact that there is high demand for higher education and consequently graduates in the labor market from these universities.
However, due to the increase in number of international students, it is evident that social vices like racism, gender discrimination, and economic problems. The main problem facing students with international background is racism. Therefore, there was a need to start a campaign awareness to educate the students and members of staff in the university on the dangers of the problem.
Statement of the Problem
The reason why color of one’s skin, the place where a person comes from, language, and religion are still a great problem in the current society is unknown. It is the easiest means through which youths get and pass information. Youths between the age of 17 and 29 spend most of their time in social media platforms as Facebook and Twitter. Given this reason, the campaign applied the main social media platforms to educate the students and staff in Cape Breton University on incidences of racial discrimination, dangers, and their personal contribution to the problem.
