Digging yourself into a hole, is a much easier process than climbing out. Becoming homeless can happen so quickly, and becoming consumed in the homeless lifestyle can be quite easy. Without proper stabilization it’s difficult to escape. Homeless people are a community, just like any other. They need each other, people need people. Strong connections to friends are often what influences them; peer pressure is alive in the homeless youth community just like any high school or group of teenagers. Kids want to fit in and have people to rely on and this can get them involved into dangerous activities, specifically drug use. This can hold a person back and keep them from moving on and making better decisions. This isn 't positive because in the long run, routine always shines through and even after working on change, many homeless teens end up on the streets all their life because they are used to it and its what they grew up into. According to the National Coalition of the Homeless “The study found that youth who engaged in high-risk behaviors were more likely to remain homeless and be more resistant to change.” (Homeless 3) People who are out of control often remain out of control without individual attention, when a young person gets involved with the wrong group, and engages in unruly behaviors, it’s hard to pull yourself away unless someone responsible is forcing you and that’s exactly what they need. according to The National Alliance to End Homelessness: we must take action to the following to improve the system and help get youth the real guidance they
