Since the age 16, I have always wanted to make a difference through the lives of other and in my community. As a college student, I volunteered and worked with the Red Cross, Big Brother Big Sister of Savannah, Lighthouse Project, NAACP, and Peach State Louis Stokes Alliance Minority Participation (PSLSAMP) and became a health educator at Savannah State University. After graduating college, finding a job was not easy but I was hired work as a customer service representative for an electric and gas company called, Convergent Outsourcing, Inc. This position was very challenging but rewarding as well. After six months of working, I became employee of the month and was offered a supervisory position shortly after due to my empathy towards customers, customer service skills and ability to achieve a high record of acuity. I worked for Convergent Outsourcing for two years and quickly began an active search for the field that I have always been passionate about which is healthcare. …show more content…
While after a few months of working in the mental health environment, I began to grow passionate about working with direct patient care and began to pursue a master degree in healthcare administration.
As a program assistant, I have a frequent contact with nurses, social workers, physicians, attorneys, mental health counselors and more. After learning so much through my graduate program, I wanted to learn more about long term care and the aspects of the field.
