When Piggy and Ralph visit Jack’s tribe to ask for Piggy’s glasses back, the boys decide to attack Piggy and Ralph instead of using civil reasoning. As a result, Piggy ends up dying to the barrage of rocks pelted upon him. Piggy’s death symbolizes the end of all order and civilization on the island because he was the only boy left who cared about rules and order. Golding described Piggy, “Piggy's arms and legs twitched a bit, like a pig's after it has been killed.” This description by Golding infers that Piggy was just another pig that Jack and his tribe would hunt in the forest. This shows that Jack and his followers’ evil and savage behaviors through hunting are responsible for the death of Piggy and the end of civilization.
