Saul's Mistakes In The Life Of Jesus

Improved Essays
Saul was a nonbeliever in Christ who was traveling to Damascus. As he journeyed, an astoundingly bright light shot out from the sky and knocked him over. A voice came from the sky and questioned Paul asking why he was persecuting Him. Saul questioned him and the voice replied that he was Jesus. Jesus told him to get up and go to the city. The other men with Saul were astonished, as they heard the voice but saw no one speaking. They continued for Damascus. However, Saul was blinded by the bright light. His blindness continued for three days, and he could not eat or drink during this time either. Meanwhile, a man named Ananias received a vision from the Lord telling him to go in search for a man named Saul. Ananias was hesitant at first as he had heard of many evils that Saul had done. The Lord was persistent though, and told Ananias to go as Saul was a chosen one. Ananias reached Saul and …show more content…
He also began preaching about Jesus being the Son of God. Those who knew of Saul's previous mistakes were astonished at his new teaching ways. After Saul had been teaching for a significant amount of time and spreading the Word of God, the Jews has made plans to kill him. Upon hearing this, the apostles helped him to escape. Once Saul had escaped the killing of the Jews, he tried to join in teaching the disciples in Jerusalem. They refused to believe that he was a disciple due to his past mistakes. One man, Barnabas, took it upon himself to guide Saul to the apostles. He continued his speaking in the name of the Lord. This story is only a small sample of the teaching of Saul. Later in Saul's life, his name was changed to Paul and he continued to preach in the name of the Lord. His conversion is significant as it teaches readers that they can change and convert into the church, and they should be accepting of converts as well. Those who convert back into the Church must know that they will be accepted and guided, just as Saint Paul

n chapter 3 of Jesus Behaving Badly, Mark Strauss addresses the issue of Jesus being someone who cures diseases and someone who is angry or loving. Reading this chapter I feel that Jesus is the loving type because he doesn’t reject anyone from knowing him. He wants people to know him and can share the gospel to other people so that when judgement day comes they will go to heaven rather than hell. One verse that stood out to me was Mark 1:33-34, “The whole town gathered at the door, and Jesus healed many who had various diseases.…

The sixth reading in chapter one of our texts Pursuing Happiness, edited by Matthew Parfitt and Dawn Skorczewski, presents material translated from The Gospel of Matthew. I studied sources to find out more about this ancient text, and in the paragraphs below. I am going to talk about to whom the book of Matthew written to, who was Matthew as an apostle, and what he accomplished by his gospel. Matthew was one of the twelve apostles chosen by Jesus Christ himself and is the first Chapter in the Christianity bible, although those that stress Matthew’s alleged dependence on Mark for a substantial part of his gospel. Some scholars started to abandon Matthew’s authorship, But is that even the case.…

He read in the scriptures Ecclesiasticus 23:19 where it says, “...the eyes of the Lord are ten thousand times brighter than the sun, beholding all the ways of men, and considering the most secret parts.” So when he was on the road to Damascus and he saw the light that shinned brighter than the noonday sun, it was no quesiton in his mind that this was the Lord. He said in Acts 26:13, At midday, O king. I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me. And when we were fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?…

Chapter 15 of Stein's book tells about the Last Supper. Jesus sends John and Peter into Jerusalem to set up a Passover meal for Jesus to share with his disciples. One really interesting aspect of this chapter that I didn't realize was how Stein said that Jesus set up the Last Supper in secrecy. It is suspected by Stein that Jesus wanted to hide the meal from Judas to delay that betrayal and the crucifixion so he could meet with his disciples and let them know what was about to transpire and why everything would happen. I think that this was really indicative of Jesus being a prophet and that he had a plan laid out.…

Daniel Hawk talks of how and what Saul is as king and in how he is a figurative sacrifice for the country Israel for all of the times that they had turned away from God during the rule of the judges. When the people cry out for a king God sees this as a direct rejection of His rule. Samuel recounts to the people of their sins and transgressions and that God will make them pay, however, later Samuel assures them that God will not abandon them. Hawk talks of Saul and how his life/rule play out in four different acts.…

Paul’s third missionary journey (Acts 18-21) from A.D 53-57 he travelled to Ephesus in this time wrote 1 Corinthians then finally to Macedonia and Jerusalem, where he wrote 2 Corinthians and Romans from Corinth while he was waiting for his departure. (McRay, 2003). The purpose of these missionary journeys was to educate those who found Christ through St. Pauls preaching. His three principles on his missionary journeys were: Jesus was the Son of God and the Messiah is foretold by the prophets of Israel; Jesus’s death compensated for all men’s sin’s and opened heaven to humanity; the Mosaic Law had, by the fact of Jesus’ salvation, been repealed and replaced by the Law of Jesus. This brought the Jews and Gentiles close together there was no longer any division between them.…
