His views are a little different than Parker’s in the fact that he still believes gay people are human and have rights of their own. Brayton just believes that the idea of gay people getting married “cheapens everything”. With the use of incongruity, Brayton expresses his view of gay marriage and uses humorous ideas like penguins getting married to express his views of the topic (Brayton). He believes that gay people can love each other and should be able to be themselves, but he feels that because it is a man and a man or a woman and a woman, it makes getting married for a man and a woman less special and meaningful. Key and Peele have a video called Gay Marriage Advice that uses mockery and inflation to exaggerate a family’s reaction when finding out a family member is gay and preparing for a wedding. The whole situation was blown out of proportion and teases the way many people handle similar situations. In the video, a family hires a gay co-worker to help prepare for the gay wedding (Key and Peele). In the beginning, the family member who works with the gay man verbalizes his opinion on keeping this relationship strictly business, so people would not assume they were friends right after saying how supportive he wants the family to be for the wedding (Key and Peele). The family members all asked ridiculous questions like if there is a specific straight section for them to sit in, and where can they find gay wedding gifts (Key and Peele). This is inflation because Key and Peele take the simple idea of two men getting married and blow it out of proportion with the ridiculous questions and concerns the family has for the wedding. Many people think of gay weddings as different and inappropriate compared to traditional weddings. This video makes the whole ordeal more dramatic and takes the criticism to a whole new level.
