At two, she will see her home one last time. She says goodbye in a blissful ignorance. As if she will see them all again the next day. This is the last time the sun will set upon her fair skin and her home world simultaneously. As time passes so insignificantly, the separated lines on the asphalt blur into one. The streetlights and electric wires become nothing more than a platform for a small figure composed of two fingers to dance along. Ignorantly, they speak loudly, with confidence they are a fool to hold. How do you become a citizen in this country? You can attempt to marry with no certainty, a drained bank account and ten or more years passing by before citizenship is considered. You can also hire a lawyer that costs thousands that few immigrants have, who often takes advantage of the desperation of immigrants, and still provides no certainty to their success. The immigration system is fatally flawed, there lies no honest chance at the moment for gaining citizenship. The men who lead our country, corrupted by greed and power, machine men with machine minds. They have barricaded our nation with hate. Tis only ignorance on our part, those with the privilege to vote, to give these men not only political power but to give benefit of doubt that they will suddenly find some sense of humanity or empathetic common sense. Differing in nature or character typically to the point of incompatibility.” This definition came with her application to live as a human being, DACA. (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) DACA, her one and only realistic shot at becoming a person in the eyes of her government and her peers, shedding her title of ALIEN.

Those Dreamers apply to receive DACA, it gives them a social security number, a driver’s license, working permits, and legal residency.
