Some people believe drugs are good and make you feel uplifted and better when it does but the reality is that those things can kill you. People let drugs take control and don’t realize when they’re lacking as far as life goes. When an individual does drugs, I learned that our brain does not work correctly together. Our brain interprets the drugs that an individual ingests as pleasurable, so dopamine is released. This makes the human brain assume that drugs are needed for survival. Drugs change the chemistry of the brain and change what our brains perceives as our basic hierarchy of needs. After one becomes addicted to drugs their primary survival priority is drugs, followed by what non- addicted brains consider priorities, food, sex and…

Thank you for your comment Brian, I love that you brought up this rather new phenomenon going on with over the counter pharmaceuticals! It's little more then a nuisance for the law abiding non substance abusers. Yet for the folks who had been abusing the industry, traveling around to secondary pharmacy's getting their prescriptions illegally refilled, helps me justify this. I recently had to pick up a prescription for my father, and the pharmacist ringing me up asked me for his birthday. Now this was my first introduction with the new system, you'd think I was at a bar and the waiter just asked to see my ID.…

Prescription drugs are abused so much, especially by younger generations. Pain killers and tranquilizer medications like xanax are even mixed in with alcohol in order for a stronger and better high. Many people overdose on these medications yet pharmaceutical companies try and make them more available to the public.…

This is the protest of the 43 that were innocent and never down and solicited crimes however their lives were taken away because they were pawns of government corruption and cartels. Across the United States, opioid addiction - and overdose deaths - has increased exponentially. With this in mind, it is extremely important that citizens today keep up to date with the drug dilemma that has rocked our country to the very core. It’s a nationwide epidemic, and without proper education on the subject, the population as a whole - especially teens whose minds aren’t fully developed - may go on to use drugs without knowing truly how dangerous they are. For instance, one very dangerous and illegal drug is also an opioid - heroin. No one wants this to continue, for the consequences are devastating.…

    Substance Abuse Satire

I feel that substance abuse is often an act of attention or a way to escape responsibility. Either way I feel that by addressing the individual and their family about the issue and educating them on how to best recover from it rather than only focusing on the user that this allows for a more comprehensive recovering instead of placing complete focus on users. Ideally, I believe that all drugs and alcohol, both legal and illegal with the exception of necessary medical prescriptions, should be banned and shown a zero tolerance towards it. Although I understand this to be unrealistic, as long as someone is a functional alcoholic or drug user that can maintain a career and not show harm to themselves or others, then it shouldn’t be of much concern…

In the United States something as simple as a drug possession charge can get you into serious trouble, with some offenses even marked as felonies. (Controlled Substances Act, 2014) This is a ludicrous idea, drug crimes are usually victimless, restricting drug usage violates basic human rights, and even tobacco and alcohol are legal. In addition to these things, putting drug charges on a person’s criminal record, or sending someone to jail on drug charges pushes more people to a life of crime. For these reasons, I believe that people should not be punished for using drugs.…

Taking hard drugs slowly kills the mind and the body. For example with cocaine, short term hallucinations over time can lead to having a stroke or death. Drugs take a large toll on the body and they could cause harm to people around a user of them. But unfortunately, because of our justice system, drugs occasionally drag innocent people into court. Even acquiring miniscule amounts of drugs can ruin lives.…
