College Rejection Letter

Thank you for considering The University of North Florida as your home for the next four years. The admissions team is very displeased to inform you that there will not be room here for you at our college. After reviewing your essay and application we were all very entertained but doubtful we would ever be able to meet you. My favorite part of your application had to be when you explained why you didn’t do very well in your Spanish three class, “I got a C- in Spanish because yo no hablo espanol.” All of us who read your application got a kick out of that. As we see you as a great addition to our Osprey family we do have some tips to help you apply elsewhere. Next time, do not include a reference from your mom or dad; you should have recommendation letters from teachers or your high school 's administration. While we loved that your mom included your dietary needs and …show more content…
The twists I added to the letter about his mom sending in his “dietary needs and bathing routine,” are thankfully untrue, but the imagery that appeared into my head was unbelievably hilarious. Currently, my boyfriend who is a senior in high school is applying for colleges, although he is 2-2 when it comes to acceptance, he still is waiting to hear back from three other schools and I figured I would take the opportunity to make him laugh in such a stressful time. None of what I wrote in any way relates to how he is but it is true he got a C- in Spanish Three and wrote on an application “yo no hablo espanol.” I remember when he showed me that I could not stop laughing and I just knew I had to include it in mine. Although that is what it is based off of the majority was just made up. I would consider myself a funny person so it wasn’t difficult for me to come up with random and weird things to

In her article "To all the Girls I 've Rejected", Jenifer Delahunty Britz appeals to a broad audience primarily composed by current, future and pasted college students. Although not limited to these demographics, the article primarily aims to console people who have experienced a rejected application. In lieu of conversations about this very personal and sometimes troubling subject, Britz attempts to console and explain why these rejections happen so often to such great candidates. It 's clear that bias selection jeopardizes students during their application process.…

In “Why Elite-College Admissions Need an Overhaul”, Jonathan R. Cole, the author of the essay, made a very strong argument on why the college admissions process is not right or fair. Within his argument, Cole states what elite colleges look for now, why what they look for is wrong, and what colleges should do instead of their current process to prove his point. I agree with Cole in his statement that the college admissions process needs an overhaul because there are some phenomenal students who are being looked over by colleges. Although I agree with his statements, I do not necessarily agree with the way Cole thinks the process should be.…

Dear, Point Pleasant Beach High School I would like to thank Beach's program for touring me around the school during the open house and Dr. Grosshandler for taking the time out of his day to discuss my possible future with Point Pleasant Beach and its amazing academic program. Beach has gained a reputation of producing intelligent students and sending them off to college. Being considered for a program with such a productive system brings a monumental amount of joy to me and my family. Over the course of this school year, I have begun to realize the difference between my old school, Point Pleasant Boro, and my new school, Spring Lake Heights. Heights has a smaller population which benefits the students for multiple reasons.…

Since the moment I got here I felt at home. Even before I decided to attend Florida Southern, my admissions counselor was extremely patient and helpful. Now, as a student I work in Admissions as a Southern Ambassador. While giving tours, I have noticed what a small and great community Florida Southern is; current students wave at us on a tour showing how friendly our campus is, professors smile at us showing their excitement in seeing potential new students. Whether you are involved in greek life or you are a member of other organizations and clubs, you can always leave your mark on campus.…

“My Day at the FGCU Campus” Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) offers many things besides just schooling. They offer a sustainable way of life and allow its students to become one with nature. Some highlights within the campus are a wide variety of ecosystems including the Food Forest, nature trails, and lakes. My favorite sustainable feature that FGCU offers is the Food Forest.…

I m originally from Secaucus New Jersey, I have moved to Houston during my senior year of college. I didn’t know any university during that time because I was still new to Texas. But as time passed by, people would always gave high remarks and praised Sam Houston State University in Kingwood High School. As graduation grew closer and closer; I decided that I will apply to SHSU but sadly I became very ill and required to get my colon removed due to having over 100 cancerous polyps. As time passed it took me a year to finish 3 surgeries and I was on the road of recovery.…

I would like to thank you in advance for taking the time to review my letter of appeal. The sole purpose of this letter is to highlight the reasons behind my poor average this past academic year and the steps I am taking to make sure my average will be well above 60. Towards the end of October my grandmother was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer and became seriously ill as her body could not handle the chemotherapy. Over the next few months it worsened and she eventually passed away in February. Not being able to be there for my family during this unfortunate time period and imagining what both my parents, who work full time were going through made me even more stressed and depressed.…

“I know applying to colleges is the last thing you want to do right now, but you might change your mind,” a trusted friend told me. It was December of my senior year of high school, and college application deadlines were approaching quickly. I was recovering from a major illness at the time, and wasn’t ready to think about college. My plan was to spend a year living at home and working before I pursued higher education. In the following months, my recovery progressed rapidly.…

To (All) the Colleges that Rejected Me In her Op-Ed, “To (All) the Colleges That Rejected Me”, Suzy Lee Weiss argues that colleges lie to applicants with the line: “Just be yourself,” when in reality, they only accept a specific kind of student. Weiss’s argument is weak however, as Weiss fails to use any logos to back up her claim and instead comes off as a close-minded, slightly racist and homophobic privileged teenager simply ranting about not getting in, whom is not the type of student elite colleges seek to accept. Though her argument is weak, Weiss starts off her Op-Ed well, stating in the first sentence: “Like me, millions of high-schoolers… are asking themselves this week how they failed to get into the colleges of their dreams.”…

As a child of immigrant parents, whom never passed secondary education, I had been told several times by my mother, “I came here so you can have the opportunities I never had.” I never took her words in for consideration. Being callow was part of the predicament, and my early teenage mindset kept me in captivity. Unlike my mother, I’ve been oblivious to the fact that as a citizen, I’m capable of achieving anything. During my last two years of high school, I realized that she was utterly right.…

The basic facts that I have given in my general application are only the facts that have been written down and kept record of. They don’t tell you who I am as a person, nor do they tell you if I would be a good candidate for your school. Hopefully, in this personal testimony of mine, I would like to explain some of the reasons why you should consider me as a student that is right for your school. I would first like to start off saying that your school is at the top of my list, as well as many others. I know that I am a perfect candidate for FIT as I have learned many great things in high school and at the community college I attend that will benefit me on my journey as I go to transfer to a four year University of my choice.…

After waiting for six minutes, my advisor, Nate, walked into the classroom. I was in room 28, Peik Hall. It was my first official day of college and my spirits were high, wanting to learn. After introductions, he asked the class a question that I had been very curious about ever since orientation, “Do you all know why you are in TRIO?” I wasn’t only curious as to why I was in TRIO, I was also curious as to why I was put into the College of Education and Human Development when I specifically signed up for the College of Liberal Arts.…
