There are many issues in our societies that need attention such as bullying, obesity, drugs, abortion, and teen pregnancy. Although those are some of the key issues; I believe that technology is an issue that we can benefit from but it can also hinder our lives. Technology has handicapped our society into depending on it every second to every minute of the day. You may wonder, what are the disadvantages of having technology? Well, one reason is the fact that we depend on it too much we also let it consume who we are. We aren’t considered a person anymore, we become a number, we become a piece of plastic.
There isn’t the smell of the morning dew. There isn’t any breakfast. There isn’t a pleasant voice waking you up in the morning. There isn’t a peaceful or silent morning anymore. There is only chaos and the,”Bloop, Bloop” of text messages and the sound of the letters being typed on the device. When we wake up in the morning, what is the first thing we do? In this age we find quality in material things rather than finding it in time and memories. We capture our memories on a cell phone or a video camera without taking time to embrace the moment. For instance; I was invited to this birthday party by text message. I attended the party and it was as if no one was there. Everyone was typing hashtags, giving shout-outs, taking pictures, or texting. What happened to birthday parties being about the birthday person and not on the entertainment your phone provides for you? We are reliant on our computers, phones, tablets, watches, etc., for information. For this reason we as humans become slaves of technology because it becomes our “brain”. It speaks for us when we don’t want to, it tells us to wake up on time, it does everything we want it to do but feel
