What is a Human?
A human is a man, woman or child of the species Homo sapiens. It’s been that way for 200,000 years. Yet it took 198,080 of those years until women only had the right to vote. When did men become a different species that is thought of more highly than women? What happened to treat everyone the same? When did a pay inequality of 25 cents per dollar in 27 occupations become “okay” or “part of life”. Imagine you want to play a sport that you love. You are the best one on the team but it doesn’t matter. People only see you as a joke and not actually an athlete. People laugh at you and ask you pointless questions that have nothing to do with what you’re doing. This happens in female sports nearly every game. She became interested in football because her soccer coach was in charge of recruiting a kicker. People had told her to try out but she had never actually thought about it. Since it was her senior year she wanted to give it a try. At her tryout she kicked a 40-foot-field goal and immediately got the coaches attention. Her coach called her one of the most highly competitive athletes- male or female- he had ever seen. After being crowned at her homecoming she automatically switches her tiara with a helmet and races onto the field. Number 15 with the braids.
Treat Humans equally
Girls and boys are becoming more equal by the day. But sexism in sports still happens. 89% of girls confidence drop during puberty causing them to drop out of sports, science, math, STEM,etc. 72% of girls think that society limits them, that they don’t have the same opportunities as men do. So boys, next time a girl asks to play basketball or soccer with you, give her a chance because she just might surprise
