He said he does it because he loves me. He said I was asking for it. He said I don’t know when to stop. Every day millions of women are victims of domestic abuse and are put into situations like this. Many women are forced to stay in these relationships because they feel worthless, they have children, or fear for their lives. A women should not have to wake up in fear wondering if today is her last day. Domestic abuse is a serious issue which needs to be addressed and be met with serious repercussions.

Victims of this issue don’t ever know who or what to look for by their first appearance of the person because it can be anyone. Being in this certain relationship not only can cause physically pain but also emotional. Isolation is a big sign

    This abuse doesn’t only take a psychical toll on a person, but an emotional one as well. It is often hard for a women to leave her partner in that situation because there is a cycle that occurs and that cycle has what is called the “honeymoon phase” where the abusive partner feels bad about what they have done and tries to make up for it. The partner then forgives them and the cycle repeats itself all over again (Mallicoat, 135-136). My solution to this would be for women to be educated more on domestic/intimate partner abuse and know what to do and where to go when it starts happening.
