We are now entering the second week of February. Take a look at your Facebook feed. Listen to Morning Shows. “You are being courageous. Good luck!” We have already been seeing and hearing sentences like this for the past weeks all over the media. But when did it become a courageous thing to NOT drink? This isn't war. This isn't some kind of cancer we are fighting. Or perhaps it is. And this is where the problem starts. Our consumption - or what we consider to be a normal quantity of alcohol - has become the problem.

Yet, we live in a hypocrite society where a bottle of wine each night is considered fancy, and a joint before bed is the biggest vice. We have gotten into the habit of including alcohol in every social activity, or as a buffer, perhaps without even noticing it. When did it become a necessity to have a few drinks before going on a date? Before kissing for the first time? When did it become a necessity after a long hard day, to sit down and have a drink? Most people see it as a glamorous lifestyle. Live hard - party hard. Especially among younger generation, stories involving alcohol are being romanticized and praised, while sobriety is being questioned and ridiculed. Why can't we praise a society in which just being yourself is fun
