This is one of the safety issues faced by the workers. There are many dangers engaged with confined spaces. One of the hazards caused by confined space is atmospheric hazards. Confined space has the possibility of low oxygen level, or filled with toxic gases. This could cause the worker asphyxiation. Besides of these, engulfment and drowning may happen in confined space. There are few drowning accidents of workers in wastewater treatment plant facility have been documented. Other common hazards include slips, trips, falls into treatment tank, entanglement, splashed by hazardous liquids, electric shock, fire and …show more content…
This can help reveal early symptoms of possible chronic effects or allergies. Furthermore, workers should obey all safety instructions concerning entry into confined spaces. For example, check atmosphere for oxygen before entry. On the other hand, worker should be well educated before handling any chemical substances. The material safety data sheet (MSDS) for all chemical substances should be easily accessible to all workers. If possible, be sure all the worker read and understand the MSDS for the chemical that they are working with. Workers should also be trained to take precautions when working around chemical, they should recognize a chemical leakage and alarm signals and know to take proper action if happen
