She has the capacity to play an intricate part in advocating for herself in most situation, except when communicating with her parents. She has an overall positive attitude but “feels sad” at times about disappointing “everyone.” After engaging with Sarah and reframing her situation, she realizes that impending homelessness is only one source of her feeling depressed. Sarah fears she has failed her parents, family, and team by getting pregnant. Her parent’s restrictive rules and Sarah inability to assert of autonomy outside the family unit or organized clubs has led Sarah to search for other outlets. For example, she was not allowed to date, so dating Mark “in secret” gave her a sense of free choice. As an adolescent Sarah is searching her meaning and fighting to establish her own identity.
